PIETRO CANONICA E MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATÜRK collects the contributions of the speakers invited to the international conference dedicated to Pietro Canonica and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, conceived by Luca Orlandi on the occasion of the Centenary of the Turkish Republic.

The conference, organized and hosted by the Italian Institute of Culture in Istanbul—under the special patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Turkey—in collaboration with the Pietro Canonica Museum at Villa Borghese and the Department of Culture of Rome Capital, was held on November 3, 2023.

It celebrated the significant artistic and cultural contribution of the Turin-born sculptor Pietro Canonica in service to Atatürk, while also highlighting the notable Italian presence in the early years of the Turkish Republic.
